What the result means
Length is converted through meters, so inches, feet, yards, and miles meet millimeters, centimeters, and kilometers on one scale. Weight goes through grams, covering milligrams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. Temperature does not use a scale factor. Fahrenheit is Celsius times nine fifths, plus 32. Kelvin is Celsius plus 273.15. Going the other way reverses those formulas. The category control rebuilds the unit lists so a length cannot be sent to a weight. Changing the category also runs the conversion when a value is already filled in. A temperature that would land below zero kelvin, or that starts there, is rejected. Zero kelvin itself is allowed. Negative lengths are treated as ordinary numbers.

Questions
Which units are included?
Length includes millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, and miles. Weight includes milligrams, grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. Temperature includes Celsius, Fahrenheit, and kelvin. Other categories are not in the list.
How is Fahrenheit converted?
Fahrenheit equals Celsius times 9/5, plus 32. The reverse subtracts 32 and multiplies by 5/9. Kelvin is Celsius plus 273.15, and Celsius is Kelvin minus 273.15.
Why was a temperature rejected?
It was below zero kelvin, or the conversion would have landed there. Zero kelvin is absolute zero, so anything lower is refused. Length and weight do not use that rule.
