What the result means
The page offers three calculations, and the result prints the formula so the arithmetic can be checked. Percent of a value multiplies the percent by the value and divides by one hundred. Ratio asks what percent the first number is of the second: divide the first by the second, then multiply by one hundred. A zero whole is rejected, because there is no percentage of nothing. Percent change starts from the first number and ends at the second. Subtract the start, divide by the start, and multiply by one hundred. A positive figure means growth and a negative figure means a drop. A zero start is rejected, because change from zero is not defined as a percent here.

Questions
How do I work out percent change?
Put the start value in the first field and the end value in the second, then choose percent change. The page subtracts the start from the end, divides by the start, and multiplies by one hundred. Growth is a positive number and a drop is negative.
What if the start value is zero?
Percent change is rejected when the start value is zero. Dividing by zero is not a percent, and the page will not invent one. Use a non-zero start, or switch to percent-of or ratio.
Which field is the start value?
In percent change, the first field is the start and the second is the end. The labels change to those words when that mode is selected. The formula line repeats the same order.
